What is SafeTarp?

SafeTarp is a company, dedicated to finding better ways with which to safely and efficiently protect flatbed cargo from the elements. Flatbed truckers created the SafeTarp TS Tarp Machine in an effort to increase Safety and hopefully get the trucks on the road a little faster. The result was better than their wildest dreams. SafeTarp has eliminated falls from loads, by completely eliminating the need to get on the load in the first place. The trucks get on the road quicker because tarping rarely takes more than 10 minutes and frequently takes less than 4 minutes. The average driver tarping their load takes from 45 minutes to an hour. The savings in time normally spent by the driver more than pays the cost of the machine and it's use. SafeTarp is the company that can improve safety while increasing efficiency, and allowing the driver to spend less time tarping and more time driving.

Benefits of using SafeTarp

• Safety - Climbing on loads is unsafe. Climbing on loads to spread tarps that are potentially wet is extremely unsafe, and is being viewed by OSHA as a plant responsibility. The addition of fall restraints may help to minimize injuries in the event of a fall, but do nothing to prevent the fall in first place. No one has ever fallen from a load being tarped by SafeTarp. Because, no one gets on the load when SafeTarp is being used.
• Plant Throughput - Whenever a plant is shipping large numbers of loads that require tarping, drivers tarping their own loads invariably cause the loading process to back into shipping as each driver take close to an hour to tarp his or her load. Valuable warehouse space is lost to allow space for drivers to tarp their loads.
• Warehouse Space - In high volume shipping operations the space necessary to allow trucks to tarp under cover generally reduces the amount of warehouse space available for storing product. Much of this can usually be reclaimed with the use of SafeTarp machine.

What Kind of Freight can be covered SafeTarp?

Virtually anything on a flatbed can be tarped using SafeTarp. Because of it's patented operation any size tarp can be lifted, and gently lowered onto any type of load. There is no dragging of the load tarp over the load, where sharp corners can rip expensive tarps. There is no lifting by the grommets that can be pulled out of the tarp. We simply pick it up using the entire tarp, and set it down where it belongs. We can even use SafeTarp to untarp loads so that the tarp is never dragged over sharp edges on the load.
